What you will be doing

We are looking for a remote Project Financial Controller responsible for end-to-end financial management of our projects. You will act as the critical interface between project delivery teams and the finance and accounting functions to ensure accurate financial reporting, commercial integrity, and forward financial planning across all projects.

This position combines financial control, commercial analysis and project-based accounting to support decision-making, optimise profitability, and maintain financial compliance across our project portfolio.

Key Requirements

Experience & Background

  • 5–10+ years in project finance, management accounting, or commercial finance.
  • Experience within a consultancy environment, ideally in design, engineering, or construction sectors
  • Strong understanding of project-based financial management and revenue recognition principles

Technical Skills

  • Essential: advanced Excel skills (financial modelling, complex formulas, data structuring)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (accruals, revenue recognition, P&L management)
  • Experience working with ERP/accounting systems and project reporting tools

Core Competencies

  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability
  • Ability to interpret contracts and translate into financial outputs
  • High attention to detail with strong data integrity focus
  • Effective stakeholder management across finance and project teams
  • Ability to operate autonomously and take ownership of project financial performance
