The Project

In order to bring their assembly distribution, testing, demonstration, training and office departments under one roof, Daikin engaged with DP World customized solutions to lease an existing facility that could accommodate their requirements. The existing facility, originally constructed in 1999, required a complete refurbishment, including upgrade of entire MEP and FLS Infrastructure, replacement of all roof and wall cladding and refurbishment of the office facilities and external areas. It was necessary to carry out the extensive works within a strict six-month timeframe, in order to enable Daikin to vacate their existing facility. Daikin designed, supplied and installed the new HVAC system for the facility, which demonstrates the capability of its products from VRV, Chiller & control systems.

Our Appointment

We were appointed to provide project management and cost management services for the refurbishment of the 2,000 sqm office, training and demonstration facility in addition to the 3,500 sqm warehouse. We carried out a thorough feasibility study initially along with technical surveys of the existing facility, to ensure that new requirements were able to be carried out with certainty. We then carried out design management of the project that ensures all elements of the structure are well accounted for within the design of the new facility. We handled the contractor procurement once all stakeholders were aligned on the design and followed through with cost and contract management.

The Benefit

We undertook and fulfilled the construction monitoring throughout the entire project lifecycle on behalf of DP World to the client’s great satisfaction. As the project was the refurbishment of a 20-year-old facility, several challenges and obstacles presented themselves throughout the construction phase of the project. We were able to draw on the team’s extensive experience within the industrial sector to provide solutions to these issues, while also ensuring the facility was delivered within the project timeline and to the high standards and specifications required by Daikin. The project was handed over in August 2019 with full-scale project close-out with all parties led by our team.
