DFS Global Office 27

The Project

We were commissioned to supply Project and Construction Management skills and to act as Linkforce’s representatives in all matters with the data centre owner. Linkforce was appointed to carry out the main infrastructure upgrade within a line data centre. The entity had rapidly outgrown its existing infrastructure and with a growing client base, the works had to be carried out without any disruption to the centre’s operations or risk to the business. The project had to be carried out within a tight timeframe to bring the data centre up to its new capacity to ensure growth sustainability.

Our Appointment

We were appointed as cost and project manager for the project at the inception stage. Our initial remit was to carry out a feasibility study and condition survey of the existing warehouse facilities to ascertain their suitability to be repurposed as office space. In tandem with the feasibility study, we managed the procurement of a concept design  team who then worked with our team and DFS to develop a robust concept design within an extremely fast timeline. The project was subsequently delivered through a design and build contract, in order to ensure delivery within the client’s programme constraints.

The Benefit

Through our existing relationship with DFS we were able to quickly define the Clients brief and turn it into a concept design that was detailed enough to procure a design and build contractor for the works. The design was required to reflect DFS luxury brand, while also maintaining the open plan feeling of the warehouse space. Our experience within both the industrial and commercial project sectors means that we were well suited to convert this industrial warehouse space into DFS new regional headquarters. Challenges in relation to  cooling and power were identified and addressed early on to ensure the risks to the project delivery were minimized.
