The Project
The UAE government’s initiative to facilitate the participation of mothers in the workplace has required all public sector companies to provide workplace nurseries for their employees. Etihad Airways aimed to become one of the first companies in Abu Dhabi to comply. The rapidly expanding passenger carrier engaged Kids Academy following an open tender bid process. A ground floor unit, which was previously Etihad’s Finance Department, measuring 500 sqm was established as the location. The oddly shaped floor space required input from many departments to achieve a layout suitable to its new function while maintaining the airline’s aviation themed concept and supporting staffing and administrative needs.
