311008 Kuwait Oil Museum

The Project

This Museum is being constructed as a permanent exhibition facility for the Kuwait Oil Company and comprises nine state of the art interactive exhibition galleries showing a dynamic way of telling the story of the history of Oil in Kuwait and all processes related to its exploration, extraction, refining and transportation. The Museum design employs a strong design concept based on an ammonite which existed some 120 million years ago and helped form the oil we see today. The floor plans of the Museum show the ammonite’s cells transformed into the circular outer function rooms.

The Benefit

The client benefited from our design management expertise, which gave them access to a high degree of local construction knowhow and knowledge of regional specifications. The result of the museum included an Inner Centrum that houses the nine interactive galleries set within the basement, ground floor, first floor and viewing tower. The ramped access from ground to first floor represents the spiral ammonite structure that is seen in these fossils. The knowledge gained from past experience with regard to International trends in set works, graphics and the successful Integration of exhibits and audio visual displays into a purposebuilt building for the exhibition.
