The Project

After successfully establishing in the UAE as Moorfields Eye Hospital in Dubai Healthcare City, Moorfields Eye Hospital London’s newest expansion project was to bring its specialty to Abu Dhabi with a view to provide international ophthalmology care services to clientele in the Emirate. The project was to refurbish two semi-detached villas to create a full service capability for eye care. The space was to be re-designed with space planning suiting a medical facility along with a full fit out in line with its brand guidelines. The eye hospital is located in an upscale residential neighborhood of Abu Dhabi Marina District, where many such boutique healthcare developments have established.

Our Appointment

We were appointed as a the project management consultant to work in the capacity of a Design Manager in the pre-contract stage and as a project manager/client representative during the post contract construction, testing-commissioning and handover stages. Our work involved extensive coordination with the main contractor and multiple stakeholders both local, regional and international. A part of our coordination and management involved extensive liaison with the client’s local partner/operator United Eastern Medical Services (UEMS) of Abu Dhabi. The project was executed within the timeframe of one year with the eye hospital successfully handed over adhering to budget and timeline.
