The Project

The objective of this EXPO 2020 project was to deliver a world class country pavilion representing Poland. The theme selected for its country stand is Nature / Birds, and this theme is portrayed in many key design elements in the interior and exterior of the pavilion. The bird aspect is represented by the suspension of a kinetic sculpture. By observing its movement, it is intended to provide an opportunity to contemplate the phenomena of nature. It serves as a reflection on the coexistence of nature and culture, a symbol for mobility, integration, collaborative intelligence and cooperation.

Our Appointment

We were appointed post-contract, after the signed agreement between the Organizing Party and the General Contractor. The initial aim was to conduct a “Gap Analysis” to determine from a contractual perspective, whether all required scope is appropriately accounted for and all project liabilities are appropriately attributed. We identified potential risks that may arise in either potentially missing scope, or misaligned liabilities. The Pavilion was predominately constructed with wood nest implying daring temporary and natural architecture in the Polish tradition of wooden constructions. The build comprises of a Ground, First, Second Floor with a Gross Floor Area of 3,116.85 sqm.

The Benefit

Our proficiency of construction within the UAE provided for a service that allowed the design concept created in Poland to be executed locally and within the permission of local authority requirements. This was completed by the management of all parties involved with the objective to complete the Poland Pavilion within the allocated time frame, governed by the requirements of EXPO 2020 and in accordance with the Polish Agency’s specification requirements. Overall, our team took ownership of the project progress and will actively manage the local execution Additionally, we supported the PMC Team of BICO Group in Poland.
