Camden Dinnin Room

The Project

As a well established brand in America with close to 6000 locations across all states they have gone on to expand into many other countries stretching to all corners of the globe. Their UK arm started from an initial build in Reading, England and has since developed across the UK. The brand has been greeted at these new locations with a warm welcome in the way of long queues out the door and customers waiting 3 hours + just to get their hands on their famous food offering.

Although Wendy’s have tailored down the food options to suit the UK tastes they haven’t compromised on delivering what customers want, which is where WHP have been able to step in and ensure the vision is realized.

Camden Inside Ordering

Our Appointment

Following their successful building with WHP in Reading, Stratford & Oxford they took on a site in Camden High Street, London. The site was located at a busy red route junction with heavy foot traffic both sides. The building was originally a bank with a vault and thick slab that had been vacated some time before and guardians secured the site.

The plans required massive and complicated structural alterations with the removal of a chimney breast from both ground floor and 1st floor to create an opening, strengthening the 1st floor timber beams both involving adding in steel beams and columns.

The Benefit

WHP were appointed to provide the role of external Project Management on Wendy’s behalf. This involved building the initial project budget, tendering, tender review and recommending Contractors to be appointed, monitoring variations throughout the project and negotiating and agreeing the Final Accounts, communicating with the site and Client teams in resolving issues and realising the design teams vision within the programme time frame, which included increasing the duration on site following additional structural surveys.

Keeping Wendy’s up date to date throughout the project with regular meetings, weekly cost updates and monthly Estimate of Final Costs documents.
